Director IT Quality Assurance
Job Overview
The IT Quality Assurance Director position provides strategic leadership, vision and technical guidance to the Software Testing organization by setting and managing the strategic and tactical direction of the software quality assurance function in IT. This position is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the ATS software testing function and organization. The Director IT Quality Assurance will managing a team of IT Test Analysts and IT Test Engineers whose goal is to improve product quality by: creating and managing software test plans; writing test cases; and writing testable software specifications from requirements.
Responsibilities

Establish new and refine existing standards, processes, policies and controls for QA projects |
 |
Define specific success criteria that QA analyst are accountable for and will be measured against |
 |
Establish a strong working relationship with the QA contact in Engineering. Foster a strong, collaborative, peer partnership and identify synergies for common systems, tools, approach and methodologies |
 |
Define and document a QA process which smoothly integrates with software development methods, including evaluating software design [e.g., newly-developed features] for “testability” and quality |
 |
Contribute to the analysis and improvement of the software development life-cycle process, with specific focus on improving the QA process; identify and implement process improvements to increase overall product quality and reduce testing costs |
 |
Build up a library of automated functional test scripts |
 |
Develop performance testing plan based on trend analysis, system utilization projections and system workload projections |
 |
Implement operational improvements and promotes quality through accuracy and thoroughness |
 |
Schedule and assign the testing of all software and web-based software components |
 |
Assure the completion of all assigned projects in accordance with predetermined production schedules, including all project deliverables [e.g., quality assurance plans, test plans, testing priorities, status reports, user documentation, etc.] as an integral part of the Agile / scrum SDLC |
 |
Manage the setup,maintenance and management of in-house testing lab including lab configuration, and overall functionality of testing equipment including but not limited to, physical, virtual and automation testing systems and hardware |
 |
Prepare a status report for all testing activities and assist technical support personnel in solving problems reported on software in the area assigned |
 |
Develop strong working relationships with 3rd-party quality assurance vendors |
 |
Create and manage the maintenance of software testing project control and error tracking tools |
Required Qualifications
 |
Demonstrated experienced in the full range of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies for all phases and processes and, in particular, performance testing methodology, concepts, & processes |
 |
Up-to-date knowledge of IT QA processes and tools including IT QA automation tools, test case management, code coverage tools, etc. |
 |
Minimum 8 -- 10 years experience and demonstrated proficiency in software testing, including at least 3 years experience managing a software testing team |
 |
Demonstrated experience with performance tools [e.g., Mercury LoadRunner, Segue Silk Performer, Rational Robot, Empirix eLoad, etc.] |
 |
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability |
 |
Ability to isolate, identify and diagnose performance issues and make resolution recommendations |
 |
Very strong organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy |
 |
Above average test management skills, including writing test plans, test cases, test schedules |
 |
Prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other technical related field |
 |
Prefer candidates with knowledge of software quality standards, principles & methodologies [e.g., ITIL, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 12207, ISO 17799, etc. |
 |
Prefer candidates with ISQI [International Software Quality Institute] certifications such as QAMP – Quality Assurance Management Professional; or ASTQB [American Software Testing Qualifications Board]/ ISTQB [International Software Testing Qualifications Board]; certifications such as CTFL – Certified Tester, Foundation Level and CTAL – Certified Tester, Advanced Level |
Work Environment
Job does not require travel. Tasks will generally be completed sitting at a desk in the office working both independently and closely with other people
