Manager of Windows Server Administration
Job Overview
The Manger of Windows Server Administration is responsible for taking a leadership role in a dynamic and challenging team environment and providing expertise on Microsoft operating systems, 2K and 2K3, 2k7 related software technologies, as well as a proven history of using administrative tools and automating routine
administration tasks.
Responsibilities
 |
Determine standards and procedures that enable the design, build, research, analyze, configure, harden, troubleshoot and maintain production systems. |
 |
Provide common and advanced system administration functions for local and remote systems including user administration, automation, patch management, backup and restore, capacity/log monitoring, clustering and replication. Install and maintain server class hardware. VMware/VSphere/ESX setup, configuration and general management. |
 |
Serve as a technical subject matter expert on project teams. |
 |
Monitors project work plan progress to ensure projected timelines, resources and budget guidelines are on schedule and within budget. |
 |
Creates monitors and provides required specifications to maintain service level objectives for production systems in order to meet IT standards and customer needs. |
 |
Define meaningful metrics for use in responding rapidly to internal or external changes, compile data required for such metrics, and report to both internal IT management and to administrative management on a regular basis. |
 |
Conduct capacity planning activities such that expected growth over three to five year rolling periods can be adequately planned. |
 |
Facilitate and manage activities required for compliance with regulatory policies, industry best practices, and organizational policies. |
 |
Manages the activities of System Administrators including hiring, coaching and development, and performance appraisals. |
Experience Required
 |
5 + years proven experience in Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, NTFS permissions, WINS, DNS, OS security, VMware/VSphere/ESX. |
 |
Ability to manage large teams with proven experience |
 |
Strong understanding of and experience with Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, NTFS permissions, WINS, DNS, OS security, and systems patching |
 |
Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2007 |
 |
Practical understanding of networking - routing, subnets, UDP, TCP, IP, & VLANs |
 |
Scripting skills - PERL, batch, shell and/or VB |
 |
Understanding or experience with EMC and NetApp NAS and/or SAN storage systems. |
 |
Experience working in a multi-server environment is required with knowledge of clustering technologies and strategies |

Work Environment
Office environment located in the Scottsdale Airpark area. Job does not require significant travel. Tasks will generally be completed sitting at a desk in the office working closely with other people.
